Vietnam has quietly become one of the world’s most exciting places for natural bamboo and rattan architecture. From bird-wing restaurants floating over lakes to the largest bamboo hall in the country, Vietnamese craftsmanship has earned some of the highest honors in global architecture. Behind these landmarks sits a deeper story — a supply chain of pure natural materials, traditional joinery, and skilled hands. This is the world in which natural rattan Vietnam buyers, architects, and FF&E teams operate, and the world Rattan.Furniture was built to serve.

Vietnam’s most iconic bamboo works
The name most associated with Vietnamese bamboo architecture is architect Vo Trong Nghia (VTN Architects), widely regarded as one of the world’s two leading bamboo architects. His philosophy is simple and radical: bamboo is the “green steel of the 21st century,” used as a load-bearing structure — never mixed with steel or concrete.

- Bamboo Wing (Flamingo Dai Lai, 2010): A pure cast-bamboo structure shaped like a bird’s wings, spanning roughly 12 metres and balancing on a single support with no edge columns. It was the only Vietnamese project honored at the International Architecture Award (IAA) 2011.
- Kontum Indochine Cafe (2013): Fifteen inverted cone-shaped bamboo clusters over 3 metres tall, inspired by a traditional fish trap. This is the clearest example of the rattan-and-bamboo technique — the bamboo is soaked in mud and smoked, then tied with rattan lashing and bamboo pins, using no steel joints.
- Vedana Restaurant (Cuc Phuong, Ninh Binh): A 16-metre, three-tier bamboo vault built from 36 bamboo frames — the only Vietnamese project to win the Grand Prize at the 11th Yuanye Awards.
- Bamboo Legend / Grand World Welcome Center (Phu Quoc, 2021): VTN’s masterpiece — 14.8 metres tall, 1,460 m² of floor area, built from roughly 42,000 tam vong bamboo culms with no chemical treatment. Recognised as the largest bamboo structure in Vietnam.

Beyond VTN, architect Hoang Thuc Hao (1+1>2 Architects) is celebrated for community bamboo works — such as the Suoi Re and Cam Thanh community houses — earning the SIA-GETZ Award as an outstanding Asian architect in 2016. A growing group of specialist builders (BambuBuild, Viet Sun Bamboo, Bamboo Viet Art and others) now execute bamboo restaurants and resorts nationwide.
The rattan-and-bamboo technique that makes it work
What unites these works is a low-tech, all-natural joinery system: bamboo is treated traditionally (mud-soaking and smoking, without industrial chemicals), shaped by natural heat bending, and connected with lashings and bamboo pegs rather than steel bolts. In hand-built, mid-scale works like Kontum Indochine, that lashing material is natural rattan — soft enough to tie, flexible enough to weave, and strong enough to hold. It is the same natural rattan that gives resorts, restaurants and interiors their warmth, texture and traceable, purely-Vietnamese material story.
This is exactly where a reliable natural-rattan source matters.
Rattan.Furniture — a direct natural rattan Vietnam manufacturer
Rattan.Furniture by Dan Tra is a direct manufacturer, not a trading company. Founded in 2014, our joint-venture factory spans 5.4 hectares (54,000 m²) and employs 965 workers, including 765 skilled rattan-weaving artisans. We specialise in 100% pure natural rattan — never synthetic, never PE — and supply both raw rattan material and finished rattan products, often within a single order.

What we supply for bamboo, hospitality and interior projects:
- Raw material: rattan lashing/binding cane, rattan poles, core, peel, and cane webbing — the very materials traditional rattan-and-bamboo joinery relies on.
- Finished & FF&E: furniture, weaving, wall panels and decorative details for restaurants, hotels and resorts, made to the architect’s design (OEM/custom).

Why architects, contractors and buyers choose us:
- Factory-direct pricing, per-batch quality control, and direct technical dialogue with the makers.
- Low, flexible MOQ — cane webbing from just 20 rolls × 15 m; buyer-set quantities.
- Traceable sourcing from licensed rattan harvesting zones and a short supply chain.
- Non-harsh processing: flame bending, sun-drying, moisture-controlled drying, and per-batch moisture testing before packing.
- Export-ready: phytosanitary certificate, HS-code classification, Certificate of Origin under the relevant trade agreement; FOB via Cat Lai Port, Ho Chi Minh City.
- Indoor & covered-space specialisation — a badge of the right expertise for natural rattan.
- Trusted by international brands including IKEA and Walmart, and hospitality references such as Green Bay Phu Quoc Resort, The Signature Hotel Nha Trang, Calmette Hotel and Spa Bar Thao Dien. [confirm: add a specific bamboo project only with proof]
