Calmette opened in 2023 as a 22-room boutique hotel in one of the busiest districts in Vietnam. The building is modern and white-toned; on its own, it reads like many other city hotels. The brief to us was to give it an identity guests would remember — and feel — the moment they walked into a room.
We furnished and decorated the whole interior in natural rattan and bamboo: 40 solid-core rattan bed frames across the 22 rooms, moisture-treated storage, soft rounded lounge seating, and rattan bent into floral and foliage motifs across the walls. Every piece came out of our own workshops, in one rattan tone and one finish standard — so the property reads as a single designed space, not an assortment from different suppliers.
The hard part of a project like this isn't making a beautiful chair — it's making a whole building's worth of hand-woven pieces that match, and holding that consistency room to room. That is exactly the capability an importer is buying when they furnish a hotel rather than a home: one manufacturer, one material voice, delivered and installed complete.
